Transmission Solutions

PowerComm’s transmission services include line routing studies and recommendations, survey services, analysis and design of structures and foundations, as well as the development of drawings, specifications and project-related documents. Our expertise includes project management capabilities for services such as project estimating, cost control, scheduling, and construction bid development and evaluation. PowerComm also provides coordination and administration of material bid and requisition, permitting, inspection and project management. We utilize state-of-the-art design software packages, including PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and TOWER.

Substation Solutions

PowerComm provides design, procurement and project management services for high voltage substations. Our capabilities include surveying and site layout, structure and foundation design, drawing development, bid package preparation and project management.

Distribution Solutions

PowerComm offers an array of distribution services focused on the design, ongoing operation and improvement of distribution systems. Design services include detailed layout and routing of new underground and overhead feeders, design and engineering of new circuit installations within existing duct systems and design of unique installations such as distribution series capacitor installations, automatic throwover schemes and distributed generation interconnections. PowerComm offers assistance with the ongoing operation and improvement of distribution systems through development of switching configurations to optimize reliability, short circuit and protection coordination reviews (including recloser placement and settings), cable and conductor ampacity determination, visual system inspections and joint use surveys.

Consulting

PowerComm offers forecasting, planning, due diligence and design expertise to it's clients. PowerComm personnel develop forecasting procedures that use client data to achieve a balance between forecast model complexity and accuracy. Forecasts are developed on a circuit/substation or spatial basis and can incorporate customer class load shape variations, weather impacts and sensitivities to potential corporate forecast variations/sensitivities.

PowerComm personnel use leading system analysis software packages to provide the critical information to support planning decisions. Planning studies identify new facility needs and timing as well as general locational information to allow detailed design and engineering. Planned system expansions are integrated into the existing system to enhance the performance of both the new facilities and the existing plant.

PowerComm provides due diligence services to clients involved in acquisitions, franchise negotiations and self assessments. These assessments provide visual assessments of system condition, equipment application and utilization, as well as, detailed reviews of historic maintenance, failure rates, capital and maintenance budgets. Items deviating from common industry practice are noted and estimates of the performance and budgetary impacts of changes are provided. PowerComm due diligence services provide an impartial review of system condition to enhance business decisions.
