Community and Professional Involvement
Community involvement plays a key role in PowerComm’s environment. The company routinely pulls together to assist those in the immediate community and beyond.
Every year during the holiday season, the company adopts a family in need, providing them with gifts for each member of the family as well as gift cards for groceries, etc. This event has gained momentum over the years as the employees of the company have come to witness the joy and relief this small act brings to a disadvantaged family during the holiday season.
In addition, PowerComm employees are active in a variety of activities in their communities including: Habitat for Humanity, feeding the poor and homeless, teenage mentoring, coaching local youth sports teams, including soccer and AAU basketball, and serving as officers in local university alumni groups. Most employees are active volunteers at their child’s schools and many others assist with Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops in the local community. Also, several employees have come together to assist in providing books for a library in Ntambu, Africa.
PowerComm is also active in many professional organizations. A key component of PowerComm’s professional involvement includes annual sponsorship of the Southeastern Electric Exchange (SEE) Annual Conference. In addition, PowerComm personnel have participated in leadership roles on National Electric Safety Code (NESC) committees, Florida Engineering Society, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Power & Energy Magazine editorial board and other professional activities. PowerComm believes in active engagement in professional and industry organizations.
